Upon spending a number of months in Sweden, I fell in love - with the country, the culture, and FIKA! Fika is about so much more than just the food, it is a cultural thing, a way of life. Before heading there, we were organizing a workshop, and wanted to skip one of the Fika breaks, planning to let students go early. We didn't understand the ruckus made when we made this suggestion. But oh, spend a little time in Sweden, and you will quickly understand - you just don't mess with Fika, and I get it, and completely agree.What's amazing is that in this culture they have their Fika typically twice a day - that's two sweets daily - and yet the entire country seems trim, absolutely svelte. Part of it is due, I'm sure, to genetics, and part to the fact that it is a largely walkable country, however, I suspect too that the ability to look forward to Fika actually helps reduce one's urges to respond to food cravings. I mean, who needs to binge when you know that at 10:30 and 3:30 you're going to have your kaffe and treat? This book explores some of the history and cultural meaning behind fika, while also presenting all of the important recipes, with clear, easy-to-follow directions.Well done!

I bought Fika: The Art of The Swedish Coffee Break, with Recipes for Pastries, Breads, and Other Treats in honor of my Swedish grandma. My grandma didn't call it fika to me but she enjoyed coffee break nearly everyday. I'm embracing my inner Swede and want to help re-implement the tradition of fika in my family near and far. Fika is a great resource to get me started with this Swedish tradition.Fika has five chapterhistory of Swedish coffeemodern-day fikathe outdoor seasoncelebrating more than the everydaybread, sandwiches, and fika as a snackIt also has a brief list of resources and a nice index.Each chapter has about 10 recipes. Measurements are given in multiple ways for example 2 cups (10 oz, 284 grams). The design of Fika is very cute with lovely illustrations by Ms. Kindvall. They are elegantly simple and sort of retro.As I have a wheat allergy, I was happy to see some naturally gluten-free recipes. So far I have only made hasselnotskaka med kaffe. Mine was made with King Arthur Gluten Free Multi Purpose Flour, 24 Ounce and with almonds instead of hazelnuts so should probably be called mandelkaka med kaffe. I had almonds on hand, but didn't have hazelnuts. Despite my needed substitutions, it is quite tasty. As mentioned with hazelnuts, I'm finding I don't have some scandinavian staples in the house. So I've just purchased Raw Oregon Hazelnuts / Filberts (2 Pound Bag) - Oh! Nuts and Simply Organic Cardamom, 2.82 Ounce so I will be ready to make my next treat from Fika: The Art of The Swedish Coffee Break, with Recipes for Pastries, Breads, and Other TreatsIn addition to buying my own copy of Fika, I have sent a copy to my mom and bought one for the library. As you can tell, I'm really enjoying my Fika.

Happy new year from Korea!This is a great baking book as well as a cultural introduction of Sweden, which has been rarely discovered in Korea. The recipes are super simple to follow and the result was wonderful. I found myself always baking over the month of December.The illustrations are pleasing and they leave room for your imagination. Although there are no pictures included, you can find plenty of them on the Internet.Enjoy the attached pictures. Those are the vetebullar, apple cake, and the fruit cake. Now, ska vi fika?

I'm an american born Swede and grew up preparing the egg coffee while getting ready for school and being served wonderful dishes prepared by my Swedish speaking mother. So why five stars on this book. The first recipe prepared using this book was the cardamon Cake. Three Tbsp of cardamon and three Tbsp of lemon juice with three separated eggs and 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Was it good you ask? It vanished into thin air in less than 8 hrs. while sitting on the counter. The ingredient combination is flavor addictive. This recipe automatically added itself to the Lutheran church coffee list.

I have purchased this book for myself and a friend and both of us LOVE it! We have tried many of the cookies, tortes, and cakes and all have been delicious! Follow the instructions exactly as written and everything will turn out great. I love the simplicity of ingredients and the fact that I didn't have to fully re-stock my kitchen in order to make any of the recipes. A basic background knowledge of baking and the science involved will also help tremendously, though I wouldn't consider most of the recipes 'advanced' by any means. Although, it does not include 'photographs' of the bakes, the whimsical illustrations were sufficient enough in my opinion to demonstrate techniques used to shape/mix/assemble the ingredients. The history of fika was also fascinating to read about, making this not only a great collections of recipes, but a good read on it's own, as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking to branch out beyond traditional American bakes and is looking for a new taste and feel to appreciate. :)

We love this book. My kids and I have baked from it all Christmas break. Swedish gingersnap cookies were our favorite - we've made three batches for ourselves and as gifts. Really, baking before bedtime with my children, having them make cut-out cookies, has been the most enjoyable, fun holiday. The house smelled like ginger, cinnamon and cardamom. The illustrations are lovely, and the recipes themselves simple and interesting and so, so good. It inspired me to dive deeper into Scandinavian cooking (homemade Swedish meatballs) but mainly, this book I keep coming back to. We plan on cooking our way through it this year:)

I have been a fan of this author's previous books and this latest installment doesn't disappoint. The book is filled with high vibrational advice channelled from the Collective of wise beings. I have been diligently practising the advice given for a week or so, and already I am seeing an improvement in my level of abundance. I was lucky to receive a free copy from the author in exchange for an honest review, and the chose to buy the book anyways to support her future good works. All the information provided in the book was written in a clear, easy to understand manner and they resonate with the truth within myself. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is now ready to stop blocking and let in the flow of Abundance that is ever-present in the universe.

When I first started reading, I wasn't sure. There were lots of words, lots of repeated words. The themes were familiar from Abraham and the Hicks, Napoleon Hill, Wallace Wattles, and The Secret.BUT, the more I read, the better I liked Abundance for All. The repetition in the beginning is reinforcing and designed to talk you out of previous beliefs in lack of abundance and power. Repetition diminishes as the book goes on.The book's greatest strengths, though, are powerful exercises and visualizations that I think are excellent. I can't wait to work with them and have great expectations of success. Good fortune to you too!

Love this approach and suggestions. Having worked with these principles and ideas for several months now, I can attest to a noticeable improvement in my abundance consciousness, release of fear of scarcity and constriction financially. I used the methods proposed along with a 40-day Abundance Book meditation process (by another author) and have experienced an increase in income and ease financially. As someone who's been struggling with building a business, this has been invaluable. I'm now enjoying more consistant income - about 1/3 more than previous. Will continue to expand this.

I have been a big fan of Caroline Oceana Ryan in the past, after reading her Ascension Manuals Part 1 and 2. This is the second book that I have bought from Caroline Oceana Ryan and by far it has become my favorite. It, to me is the detailed explanation that "The Secret" did not quite reveal.Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed learning about the law of attraction, however this book is the key to what, how and why. I feel like I have jumped the biggest hurdle in my journey where there are finally NO LIMITS. My favorite parts, besides releasing the false notion that "working for rewards" is "godliness" are the amazing affirmations to release ourselves from any contracts we have created consciously, subconsciously, physically, etherically about abundance or poverty. This book should be in every social institution in this world to break the cycle of poverty conscious and all the misconceptions about abundance!!

This book is absolutely phenomenal!!! It's packed with lots of information you wish you had read early on in your conscious spiritual journey. It answers those higher vibration questions about abundance simply and clearly and so much more. Abundance for All is a book everyone should read to help themselves be all they can be! This book will be an excellent reference book for me to go back and reread over and over again, until I master all the parts of it. Every word is spoken in a way to help lift us up spiritually. I bought these cards because I liked how the images appeared in the photo to be hand drawn illustrations instead of computer generated graphics. Unfortunately, the version in the photo is the older version and the never version has been updated to computer generated graphics... in other words, the item does not match the image shown. I will use the cards with my son, but I find the computer graphics to be less charming.The problem is that the School Zone Company does not change their product codes with new versions of the same product even when there are changes between versions. Then sellers list their item by the product codes and end up with all of the versions under one image so you don't know really what you are buying. Fortunately the cards are pretty much the same between the two versions I compared.

I bought a bunch of these cards for my son because he was having a little trouble in school. Having ADHD, it is hard for him to focus on something "boring" for long. These cards have been a lifesaver for both of us. He can focus for way longer than if we were doing it just on paper and we even make it a game at times.These are the ones I bought and have used with great success:-Time and Money-Phonics Made Easy-Sight Words-Alphabet-Math War

There is a debate over whether whole-word instruction or phonics is better for learning to read. The scientific evidence convincincly shows that a phonic/phonetic approach is better for developing knowledge of encoding/decoding rules of language. A child who only learns whole words will have a tougher time spelling, and may guess at pronunciations or meanings of new words within his or her vocabulary, whereas things are just easier with phonics due to greater contextual knowledge of even new words. That said, the approaches are not mutually exclusive-- even though phonics should be learned, learning common sight words as well can greatly increase reading confidence and speed (fluency).Each of these whimsically illustrated cards features a front with a phoneme, either a single letter (in upper and lower case) or combination. The front features multiple illustrations related to the same sound-- for instance, "ch" might show a chicken on a chair holding a cheese. These may improve recall by serving as mnemonic aids; it's hard to forget a combo like the one just mentioned.On the back is a smaller illustration in single color, with a list of words in large bold type featuring the letter or combination. Many of the cards also feature a smaller list at the bottom of more advanced words with the same letter or combination, adding to the reusability of the cards as the child grows in knowledge.I highly recommend these cards. They are a fun, easy introduction to phonics that will give a child an advantage in learning new words for the future.

I thought my 7 year old daughter would be bored with these, but the pictures keep her attention. She really likes the cards.The cards consist of all the letters of the alphabet and two letter combinations, like "sn", "th", "fl", etc. Each card has a picture on the front, and several word examples on the back of each card. I think this is great for visual learners because as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. It's far easier for my child to picture a crow wearing a crown than to memorize what "cr" sounds like.The only reason I give it four star instead of five is because I wish it had three or four letter combinations, like "ion", or "ough". But overall, very happy with my purchase and it serves it's purpose very well.

Wish it was more of phonics and not just more than half the deck being the basic alphabet. My pictures shows the few phonics and digraph list. There also seems no rim or reason to the color of the edges.If you are looking for more phonics and blended letters, I'd pass on this one.

These phonics flash cards are cute and fun for the kiddos. I bought these for a long car trip and they do seem to keep the kids occupied for awhile. Plus they are learning something.

We love working with our grandkids as they learn the sounds letters make. These cards r great for that, they have 2-letter combos and pictures to go with them. Makes learning fun!

My son prefers these to a lot of other flashcards, and these are all words that are on his Kindergarten "need to know" list. Arrived the next day.
