Last fall, I was teaching a class on email marketing at the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship in my hometown of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During the question and answer section of my talk, a friend noted that Email Marketing Demystified was written in 2015 and wondered if there was any out of date information in the book. I thought the book was still largely current and responded as such, because this book is as much about principles and strategies of marketing through email as it is about specific technologies and platforms. Regardless, I decided to give Email Marketing Demystified a quick read through after the class. I didn't find anything woefully out of date or inaccurate, but there were some sections that I thought could be expanded upon. There have also been a handful of legal and technical developments since Email Marketing Demystified was first published in 2015.The technology, strategies and tactics that surround email marketing have not changed significantly since the first edition of the book was published. This is a testament to the stability and longevity of email as profitable marketing tool. The biggest recent development in email marketing came from a change in European law, when its General Data Protection Rules (GDPR) went into effect in May 2018. GDPR grants significant new rights to European consumers about how companies store and use their data, which has major implication for email marketers that have subscribers in Europe. The other significant development is that major email service providers' spam filters have gotten much stricter. Both Gmail and Hotmail have raised the bar for letting commercial messages to get into the inbox, which makes list hygiene more important than ever. In my profession in the financial field I stay on the lookout for books that may make it easier to explain some of the concepts I use to the clients I work with so picked this one up to see how it handled statistical analysis and regression. I had long been a fan of the classic "How to Lie With Statistics" by Darrell Huff written in the 50's and this book is "an homage" to that work. I enjoyed it because I like statistics and I think the average reader will enjoy it but they may want to shy away from the chapter appendixes as they get more in depth. The author does a good job of steering away from the more complex issues (non-linear regression analysis, for example) and comes up with some good examples to illustrate his points. He does one of the best jobs I have encountered of explaining the "Monty Hall problem" which is why an individual, after having picked say, "door number one" and Monty shows that door number 3 has a goat behind it and offers to let the contestant change his mind to door number 2. It sounds counter intuitive but the right choice is to make the change. Why? Guess you'll have to get the book and check it out.I liked his explanation of concepts enough that I purchased his book "Naked Economics" despite my extensive study of the topic in anticipation that I will find some nuggets of explanation that I can use.

I received this as gift to help me with a Stat class I was taking. It does well explaining basic statistical concepts in plain English with a startling lack of numbers in the examples. Where a traditional textbook fails in explaining it's material and it's relevance, this book excels. I had hoped it would reconcile my difficulties understanding regressional analysis but that did not come to fruition. The author has some humor that he applies sparingly and is welcomed and the examples make the knowledge gained seem relevant. That aside, don't expect to learn statistics by reading this alone. There is little re-read value to it as it presents itself in a storytelling manner which you wouldn't need to hear again. Do not let that dissuade your purchase as this does what most educational texts fails to do, which is mak you care about the subject and see its prevalence in society.

I'm tardy on submitting a review on this as I read it awhile ago.I purchased this book as a step on my journey to build up certain skill sets and knowledge in a field that I wish to break into and combine with my current expertise. This book was a great read on statistics. In my opinion, the author did a fantastic job explaining concepts and how the associated formulas worked in a slightly technical way, but mostly leading into explanations in layman' terms. In particular, the examples he used to further explain the material really brought everything together and made it easy to understand and retain. They weren't just the typical generic and sterile situational type of examples, rather something that the vast majority of readers can relate to or, at least, visualize more simply. Something that was more interesting to get the reader vested in the material.Thanks to the author for taking the time to write this. I have your other books on my reading list now.

The description "easy read" should not go with a book that explains statistics. Unbelievably, this book does that. I have read books and taken graduate level courses in an effort to learn statistics to transition from medical care to medical research. Although this book would be far from replacing those, it has taken much of the pain and obtuse explanations away and supplanted them with easy to understand lingo and real world application. I understand concepts much better after reading this book. Heck, I may try and learn economics by reading the same authors book on that subject ( which I have no clue about one, but will soon!)

I found naked statistics to be a very interesting read and while I did learn a lot, I didn’t get the formulas to address the specific applications I was seeking. I would like a simple table of formulas and their applicable uses that I could program into a spreadsheet to play around with. The stories, while educational and relevant, were also distracting to my purpose in reading the book in the first place. I would, however, highly recommend this book for students and people with less life and business experience than a 76 year old.

This book not only gives great insight into the realm of statistics, but delivers it in a fashion that is very easy to read. Wheelan explains the basics concepts in statistics, from probability to regression, with such simplicity. Though I personally already had a large amount of knowledge in the field of statistics prior to reading this book, i found myself being able to understand the basics with Wheelans examples far more easier than being previously taught these came concepts in the classroom. While a book on statistics may seem daunting and quite boring, Wheelan does a fantastic job of keeping the reader engaged with humor and real life examples of how statistics applies to the world we live in today. Whether you are reading this to grab a basic foundation of statistics or are brushing up on the concepts, this book is a must read!

It's rather 'thin' in substance compared to the Bradt Guide. I use both, but prefer Bradt for deeper content.

Good info.

Neither the Lonely Planet travel guide nor the Bradt travel guide are all that great, but they are about all that is available. At least the street map for Tana was reasonably useful. Aside from that, the hard copy Lonely Planet guide is useful as kindling if you need to start a fire. Photos are better than the Bradt guide.

I ordered the book on Thursday and I got it the very next day! I've had the pleasure of meeting Eddie B and even attending his hilarious Comedy Tour (I must admit I laughed myself completely out of my chair) and by all means, he is definately a cool brother and conducts himself as a gentleman, but I must admit that I struggled through the Forward LOL Now, in all fairness, I usually skip Forwards, but this time I felt compelled. I wanted to read the entire book from beginning to end probably because I've had the pleasure of meeting and befriending Eddie personally. So, yes I was pleasantly surprised that the book was more of a satisfying biography than what I expected, which was a light comedy. Actually, as soon as I finished reading the first couple of pages, I thought I owed the public a taste of the surprising depth that this book has to offer, so I included a picture of page one. I was stirred immediately by the raw authenticity of how he told the story. His story. It's quite captivating and a very easy read. It's Friday night and I'm only on page 5, yet I'm already looking forward to volume II. Congrats homie♡Update: Being Funny AND Educated with a Christian spirit is a win in my book. I finish the book the same day. Hard to put down. Looking forward to Eddie B's next move in his call to be a civil rights activist. Education is everything!

Truly an enjoyable read. As a fan of Eddie B., I looked forward to the release of his book, and it did not disappoint. Funny as expected, but also insightful. As a teacher , I enjoyed hearing from someone who has been there and understands what we go through. I hope he records an audiobook of this. I’d loved to listen as I drive to school - laughter and encouragement as I head into battle :-) !

I discovered Eddie B.'s videos through a friend while in my last overseas teaching job. The post was not my favorite, and for the first time ever, after teaching in multiple countries on 5 continents, I wondered if I should get out of the profession. On cue, enter a video that let me know I was not alone and I needed to find the humor. The endless paperwork and meetings that had nothing to do with supporting student learning needs, the less than adequate "rewards" thrown at us on occasion for a job more than well done under way less than half ideal circumstances - the fate of teachers, regardless of location. Thank you, Eddie B., for giving me a reason to keep going, exit the wrong teaching situation and find the right one for me.

As soon as I opened this calendar it fell apart into 2 pieces.

When I took this product out of the box, all the pages were already off the stand and separated! I'm waiting on a replacement, but it's a little annoying because I'll miss the first bit of January. We'll see how the replacement is.

Exactly what she wanted- bought as a gift. Every other one was so religious, glad to find one with something else to offer!

Good concept, good thoughts. Horrible execution. The actual calendar is attached to the base upside down, so you can't stand it up or even hang it up.

We have a morning huddle at my work and someone reads from this quote calendar. It really starts the day off right.

The colors and quotes are beautiful. Like other reviewers, when I opened it the paper parts weren't bound together very well and it came apart. I kept it though because it can stay together if it is resting on the stand.

I got this book because we have a timeshare in Cancun and although we love it, we were sick of doing the same old things on the hotel strip and getting ripped off for doing something I could do in the same city for a fraction of the price. After reading Rowicz' book we picked out a nice condo in Puerto Juarez and had a ball. Here are a few of the suggestions we took from the book: Went to Park de las Palapas and had a ball eating local food and buying some jewelry from the locals and talking with a few. In fact we found a little internet friendly restaurant off a side street there and we would go for drinks and use the wi-fi. (The wi-fi, even in our upscale hotel on the strip, stinks!) We went to Playa de North which was absolute heaven. We went to Forum Playa, which is on the hotel zone, and it was exactly as described. We went to La Distillaria and got the tequilla tour. We rode the ADO bus from the airport, air-conditioned and under the bus luggage and saved a TON of money getting to our destination. We did NOT overpay cabs and saved a ton of money. I now use the Duolingo site and am learning Spanish. I love Mexico but I was sick of feeling like I was just in a warmer version of the US and I was sick of getting ripped off. Great book.

This is by far the best guide out there. Sure, this guide isn't for everyone... he even says it himself. If you have thousands of dollars to spend, only want to visit the biggest tourist traps, or if you want to stick with expensive (and overrated) restaurants, this NOT the guide for you. If you're like me, going with a family that is on a budget, that wants to really experience authentic Mexican culture and food, and have a lot of fun while you're at it, this is the perfect thing.Although I'm "Gringo", I have lived in Central America for many years and so I'm familiar with the Latin American culture. However, Rowicz offered many insights that were unique to the Cancun area that I really appreciated, since I had never visited the Yucatan. Sure, he definitely has parts of the book that are geared to young, single adults, but he has overwhelming amounts of useful information for famlies and others as well.In my opinion, the only thing that could make this Guide Book perfect is if he included more information of the surrounding cities of the Riviera Maya, like Playa del Carmen, Tulum, etc. He definitely has valuable information about these areas, but the central focus is on Cancun, just as the title would suggest.I'll say it again: If you know you're not the type of the person that does not enjoy trying new things, experiencing new cultures, or if you have plenty of money to spend, this probably isn't the guide for you. But my wife and kids thoroughly enjoyed our vacation here and can definitely thank Rowicz for providing some great vacation ideas and tips.

Highly recommend this book! But beware, I bought several kindle edition Cancun books and this is the exact same book as "Cancun: This is NOT a Travel Guide", strange thing is these books have different authors so how does that happen???? I'm complaining to Amazon!!!!

We found this book very helpful for finding the offbeat items. This is not a book for the tourist who is content to stay in the resort or only visit the touristy locations. It is the book for those who want to find restaurants where locals eat, and to really get to the know the place.

Unfortunately I need to give a poor review. I did not find this book to be very helpful. It did not have a map, have good instructions for transportation options when arriving from the airport, didn't go into good detail about fun adventurous things to do with children. I would have liked a section on history of the region, details of sightseeing and getting around the area. The cenotes are an awesome adventure in the area and it only had a tiny section with one recommendation dedicated to this topic. Even my son mentioned it didn't give much information. I have used independent travel books for other adventures and they generally have good maps and better details on the area.

This book is more approprite for college students or people on a really limited budget.I was quite disappointed with this guide and figure I mis-understood whom the author's target audience is. In addition, maybe my expectations as to what an "insider's" point of view meant was skewed by the overview description. I was hoping for a good amount of reviews and suggestions with a "local" slant and quite frankly there aren't much of any.If you want to learn about accomodations and restaurants this is not the guide for you but if you want to learn how to stay in a hostel for free then buy this book. While there is a lot of guidance on street food I wonder if the author really thinks the mainsteam tourist are going to risk street vendor food and homemade beveages. Some reviews of local, non-tourist establishments where Montezuma's Revenge won't be a concern would have been appreciated.While suggested sources of discounted admissions were good you can get fairly similar info and discounts from a good hotel consierge; just remember to tip them.The few useful points like don't drink tap water, be careful about buying vanilla and eat some yogurt to ward off the runs are not worth the price of this book.No real info on great trinkets or soveniers to bring home.A couple of high points: I did learn about the tequila museaum and which big box store has the best prices for booze.

Bought this on Kindle and returned it. None of the special "notes" or suggestions showed up in the bordered areas. If that doesn't bother you, there may be information you can find useful. I returned it promptly, so I'm not sure.
