I decided not to go fancy, and buy a GPS navigation system. However I wanted a reasonably compact map book that I could carry in my truck. I drive mostly in Pierce County. I gave this map book a five because it illustrates all the local roads, and points of interest, at a fine level of detail. I use this all the time to look for shortcuts or to route around traffic jams and construction. Even if I had GPS navigation, I would still keep this book as a backup.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Rachel is a modern girl from Chicago. Her mother needs a very expensive surgery to live, and Rachel is at her wit's end to find a way to fund it. When she is thrust back in time, she finds a seemingly endless supply of beautiful gems that she has a good idea will fund quite a bit of the surgery costs. Jolbjorn is the illegitimate, but firstborn son, who will do anything to prove himself to his father. Two younger half-brothers (one in particular) want to see him dead. Jolbjorn has to be constantly vigilant, as, weaker, they strike when he's not looking like in battle. Left to guard more gems after the first ones disappear, he discovers but can't catch Rachel. But when she returns to steal a fabulous necklace called The Northern Lights, Jolbjorn is able to capture her... just before they are snowed in together in a blizzard.

This is the second book in the Called by a Viking series but it's a standalone with an HEA. I really enjoyed the book because it's right up my alley. I love Vikings and Time Travel is a way to fantasize about meeting some. Rachel needed money to finance her mother's surgery and she found a way to travel back in time to a handy stash of viking jewlery. Kolbjorn is an illegitimate son of a viking with two legitimate sons who are very cruel. The one way to gain favor is to safeguard the jewels for his father. When the two run into each other sparks fly. What did bother me or could have been made more interesting is there wasn't too much made over their cultural differences. I was given this book by Hidden Gems for an honest and freely given review.

This book is a solid, well-written story. The characters are interesting and believable and the plot is engaging. I really enjoyed reading it. I just wish it was longer. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book and can certainly recommend it to you.

His two half-brothers constantly torment him about this. His father calls them forward and informs them he is to meet with the King. He aspires to become a king. He wants his two sons to fraternize with the King, and for Kilbjorn to keep raiding and fighting to bring enough materials for a hired jeweler to make enough jewelry to sell to others.Rachel lives in the present time and is worried because her mother is dying and the surgery and treatment she needs costs $200,000. Rachel has to find a way to meet that demand. Three old little ladies spied her sitting on a bench. They made some type of prediction, walked away, and left behind a golden spindle. Rachel picks it up and is transported back to Kilbjorn’s time. She managed to go there and steal jewels four times and go back home. The money she raised went toward the transplant her mom needed. Now, she was there for the final time to get a necklace. This time she was caught and could not make it back to her time.Kilbjorn catches her and they become snowed in at his hunting hut. They have hot steamy sex and find a connection to one another. After fighting with his two brothers and three others set on killing him, he brings the necklace and Rachel back to his father. He saves Rachel by telling his father a lie and she goes back to her time heartbroken. Does she make it in time to save her mother? What happens now that she is back in her time? Will she ever see him again? What does his father do to him if she does not return? Will he ever gain the acceptance he seeks? Will he ever see the woman he loves again? This book is a time travel romance full of action and some steamy scenes. Read the book to see if these two gain their HEA! I received this book as a gift and am voluntarily leaving a review.
